Latvia

The Republic of Latvia is a North-eastern European country. Earlier a part of the Soviet Union, in 1991 Latvia regained its independence. Surrounded by the Baltic Sea to the west, Estonia to the north,  Russia to the east, Lithuania and Belarus to the south. Latvia is a member of the European Union, NATO and Schengen convention.

Place worth visiting is the capital Riga, that was also a member of the Hanseatic League in the 13th century. Riga’s remarkable Medieval Old Town is situated on the western coast of Daugava river. Near Riga there’s a resort town Jurmala with a long beach and wellness spas. Also Sigulda, place known as the 'Switzerland of Latvia' is hard to miss. But Kuldiga town is known as the “Latvian Venice” due to its historical part and Valley of the River Venta. Also, town from the 11th century Cēsis has a great historical importance and is worth seeing.
