Estonia

The Republic of Estonia is a Baltic Country in North-eastern Europe. From Estonia the Baltic Sea is in the west, Finland in the north, Latvia in the south and Russian Federation in the East. In 1991 the Soviet occupation ended and along with other Baltic countries Estonia declared its independence. Although overall Estonia does not have many resources, the land is still rich in oil shale, limestone and forests that cover almost 50% of the land. Due to fast economic growth, and remarkable development of information technology, Estonia is often called the “Tiger of the Baltic States”. According to the World Bank Estonia is considered to be a country with a high income. Estonia is a member of the European Union, NATO and Shengen convention.

Estonia is a country with various sights to visit, there is an uncountable number of lakes and islands. You can see medieval cities, national parks, beautiful holiday spots at the seaside are hard to miss. Estonia is a passage to many other European countries, important ones are Finland and Sweden.
The most famous sight to see is the Medieval Tallinn, today’s capital that used to be a member of the Hanseatic League. Another Hanseatic town, today’s famous resort Pärnu, famous university town Tartu and a town with many historical sights Narva have also left a strong impression to visitors all over the world. Places with beautiful nature are Saaremaa island and Lahemaa National Park.
