All about the Busójárás festival in Hungary

The Busójárás festival is an annual celebration of people living in the Hungarian town Mohács. The festival is held every year in February at the end of the carnival season and is ending the day before Ash Wednesday. However, the biggest celebration is on Sunday. The festival is held to scare away the winter and to celebrate the coming spring season. The local men wearing scary looking masks, called as Busós, are walking through the town, while there is also the folk music and lot of dancing, traditional food and alcohol. Believe us, it’s almost impossible to attend this unique festival without becoming a part of it.
